healthHuman beings are species very vulnerable to external and internal forces. We are easily affected by everything that is occurring around us. Therefore, we get to experience a variety of alterations in our health throughout our lifespan. These experiences are somewhat a burden on our part, and it affects our activities of daily living thus, making us less productive. Alterations in our health include different diseases that would range from mild, then moderate to the severe ones. These diseases are evident in our society and no one is spared from acquiring them. Even if you belong to the upper class of the society or the middle and the lower classes, you are not excluded. Hospitals never ran out of patients. Whenever a patient is discharged, another one gets admitted and sometimes admissions are of greater number in comparison to those that are well and allowed to return to their respective homes. Despite these facts, we can still function and prevent being plagued by these diseases through proper lifestyle and health promoting activities.

Our health is an important aspect of human existence. This enables a person to function to his maximum, and it includes not only the physicality of a person but his entire composition. There are many ways to become a healthy individual and avoid having diseases, which included proper diet, exercise and stress management. Proper diet includes having the right combination of foods in our plate. It doesn’t matter if what we eat cost less or is expensive since it’s not on the price but the nutrients we gain from eating. Simply include fruits and vegetables in your diet because these are good sources of vitamins and minerals. It is also a must to never skip a meal. Skipping meals is bad for our health since our body needs food for us to be energized and function well. Avoid too much fatty foods since too much fat would lead to the development of atherosclerosis, a disease that would eventually lead to a more morbid one which is a heart attack. Exercise helps us to be in good shape, and it actually prevents obesity, which is a major factor in developing heart related problems. It is best to spare at least thirty minutes of exercise everyday. It doesn’t matter if you cannot join into an exercise program. We can perform this simple activity without spending much. A simple walking or jogging along the streets is a form of exercise. It also strengthens our bones and muscles thus allowing us to perform many kinds of work. Those individuals who do not engage in exercise are the ones who usually get sick and experience the worst possible disease.

Stress is always present, wherever we may be. Early in the morning we get into traffic, and we view this as a stressor. Simple things depending on how an individual perceives it could be a stressor and stress is said to be the cause of some of the alterations in health. Therefore, it is important to manage stress. It’s just a matter of proper thinking and having a positive outlook in life. Through these activities, we are diverted away from acquiring a disease and be active members of the community. We could get positive outcomes from being healthy. When we are fit, we easily get hired in jobs, our brain functions well, we look presentable, and we always feel happy in comparison to individuals who are sick. We prevent absences from school and jobs. Therefore, we earn more money and gain more knowledge and experience. It is also not practical to usually get sick because we get to spend more for medicines and treatment. Therefore, we can save more money and use it for recreation and enjoyment.

It’s never too late to start living a healthy life. We give utmost care to our health, and we get more in return. Definitely, health is an important asset we could cherish.
